Even here at home, some elements of popular culture romanticize older, inefficient production methods and shun fertilizers and pesticides, arguing that the U.S. should revert to producing only local organic food. People should be able to purchase organic food if they have the will and financial means to do so, but not at the expense of the world’s hungry—25,000 of whom die each day from malnutrition.

Or.. um..
Perhaps there are too many people.
Our population (not to mention continuing population growth) is not sustainable. The billion lives that he "saved" seems pretty dumb if it leads to the demise of the human as a species.
By the way, I totally have plans to overbreed (shame on me, I know). I shouldn't even admit this, as for all I know my plans will end up changing, but I'm all for full disclosure.
He was also a strong advocate for birth control. I completely agree with you that there are too many people. However, starvation is a really inhumane method of population control.
Wait...I thought you weren't planning to breed. Adopting seems like anti-over breeding. Have your plans changed?
